FIELD: medicine; medical diagnostics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the risk of developing ischemic stroke in smoking women that live in the Central Russia. A venous blood sample is collected. After DNA extraction, genotyping of rs1136141 (G>A) polymorphic variant of the heat shock protein family A gene HSPA8 is performed. If rs1136141-A allele is detected, an increased risk of ischemic stroke is predicted in smoking women. If rs1136141-G/G genotype is detected, a low risk of ischemic stroke is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides new criteria for assessing the risk of ischemic stroke in smoking women being the residents of Central Russia based on genotyping of the polymorphic variant rs1136141 (G>A) of HSPA8 gene.
