SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related in particular to a method for detecting thermal runaway and a battery management system. The method includes obtaining (710) at least one parameter of a battery cooling medium, wherein the battery contains a thermal conductive device, and the cooling medium is contained in the thermal conductive device; and determining (720) when the at least one parameter satisfies a predetermined condition that thermal runaway occurs in the battery.
EFFECT: effective detection of the occurrence of thermal runaway of the battery.
