FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the electronics industry in the manufacture of sealed magnetically controlled contacts (reed switches). The technical result of the claimed method is to reduce the cost of the reed switch due to the introduction of a processing method in which spark and ion plasma processing of the reed switch contacts occurs simultaneously. Equipment productivity increases by reducing processing time. In this method, together with short-term spark discharges lasting less than 1 microsecond, a longer plasma discharge (up to several milliseconds) is ignited between the contacts of the reed switch. As a result, processing is performed more quickly and efficiently.
EFFECT: method of manufacturing a reed switch makes it possible to form nitride hardened contact pads directly where, when switching electric current, physical contact of the contact parts of the reed switch occurs, increasing erosion resistance.
