FIELD: packaging equipment.

SUBSTANCE: methods and machines for packaging products, thus creating packages formed by a tray covered with a cover film. A method of packaging products in which a tray is created by bonding a plastic film to a carrier film made of plant or pulp material. In this case, the tray contains a cavity of a given perimeter and area and a rim surrounding the cavity. Moreover, the specified cavity is created by applying a given pressure to the area of formation of these films. The product to be packaged is placed in the cavity of the tray. The cover film is sealed to at least the rim of the tray, with the product in the cavity so that the tray is closed. The configuration formed by the cover film and the tray is cut after said sealing and a package is obtained. In this case, before creating the tray and before pressing the carrier film, at least one reference cut is created in the carrier film moulding area so that the subsequent pressure applied to the said moulding area causes separation of the sections of the said carrier film, which are located on both sides of the reference cut. Moreover, as a result of this separation, the carrier film contains at least one gap in the cavity of the tray, thus, a package with a tray is obtained, in which the area of the cavity of the tray is larger than the area of the formation area of the carrier film. The group of inventions also relates to a thermoforming machine for packaging products, which is configured to create the above packaging.

EFFECT: creation of a deeper cavity in the carrier film, despite the low stretching ability or expandability of a plant or pulp material, savings on the carrier film material.
