SUBSTANCE: method for determining the live weight of cattle includes measuring the exterior parameters, and additionally measuring the straight length of the hip region and the width of the buttocks at the ischial tuberosities, and based on the ratio of these values, the body index (BI) and the body mass index of the animal (BMI) are determined using the formula BI = √(Vbody/MG), (1) where BI is the body index, Vbody = 1/3 · SBL · (CD * CW + √(CD * CW * SLHA * DB) + SLHA * DB) , where SBL is the straight length of the body, CD is the depth of the chest, cm; CW is the chest width, cm; SLHA is the straight length of the hip area, cm; WB – width of the buttocks at the ischial tuberosities, cm; MG is the metacarpal girth, cm; BMI = BI / m, (2) where BMI is body mass index, m is live weight, kg, the value of body mass index (for heifers 0.341-0.347, bulls 0.282-0.289) is used as a coefficient for predicting the live weight of young animals.
EFFECT: invention allows the use of a non-contact method for determining live weight and body parameters of animals.
