FIELD: well operation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining annular fluid flow in operating wells. The method includes recording the temperature of the inner surface of the casing along the depth in the studied interval. It also includes carrying out short-term local induction heating of the casing for up to 20 minutes in the middle of the studied interval. It also includes a series of temperature measurements of the inner surface of the casing along the depth in the studied interval after the end of induction heating. It also includes the calculation of the distribution of the temperature anomaly on the inner surface of the casing along the depth, defined as the difference between the temperature of the inner surface of the casing before and after its local induction heating. The method also includes analyzing the time shift of the depth at which the maximum temperature anomaly is achieved on the inner surface of the casing, down or up relative to the local induction heating area. The method also includes establishing the fact of the presence of behind-the-casing flow in the studied interval based on the fact of a time shift in the depth at which the maximum temperature anomaly is achieved.
EFFECT: increase in the sensitivity of the temperature field to the movement of fluid in the space behind the casing, based on the creation of artificial thermal fields in the casing and fluid moving in the space behind the casing, due to its local induction heating.
