FIELD: ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: intended to assess the depth of spread of the inflammatory process of the fibrous membrane of the eye. After preliminary installation anesthesia, ultrasound biomicroscopy of the anterior part of the eye is performed. The condition of the conjunctiva, sclera and ciliary body in the area of the inflammatory process is assessed. When thickening of the conjunctiva is visualized on an echogram in the absence of changes in the sclera and ciliary body, episcleritis is diagnosed. In case of a combination of thickening of the conjunctiva, expansion of the subconjunctival space, thickening of the sclera with a decrease in its echogenicity and unclear boundaries of the episcleral surface, anterior scleritis with damage to the superficial layers of the sclera is diagnosed. With thickening of the conjunctiva, expansion of the subconjunctival space, determination of uneven thickness of the sclera with areas of thickening and thinning and unclear boundaries of the epibulbar and inner surface of the sclera, thickening of the ciliary body, anterior scleritis with damage to the deep layers of the sclera is diagnosed.

EFFECT: improving the accuracy of assessing the depth of the inflammatory process of the fibrous membrane of the eye at the clinical stage for subsequent optimization of treatment tactics through the use of ultrasound biomicroscopy.
