SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method and installation for forming a continuous material in form of a sheet into a rod, in particular used in the manufacture of aerosol-generating products. A method of forming a continuous sheet material (1) into a rod includes providing a continuous sheet material (1) having a glass transition temperature below 150 degrees Celsius, and forming the continuous sheet material from a flat shape into a rod shape using a forming device (2). The method further includes providing a cooling means (34) that provides a temperature below four degrees Celsius, cooling the material contacting surface of the forming device (2) to a surface temperature below four degrees Celsius, and cooling the collected continuous material in form of a sheet of the material contacting surface located in contact with a continuous collected material in form of a sheet.

EFFECT: increase in reproducibility of products made from a sheet.
