FIELD: railroad engineering.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to determining the location or identification of rolling stock. The method for determining the speed and direction of movement of a railroad engine is that the reflective surface is probed through two channels from each side of the railroad engine; to determine the speed of the railroad engine, the sums of Doppler frequencies of opposite radiation rays are used. The system for determining the railroad engine speed and direction of movement contains radar sensors, units for processing reflected signals, a microcontroller, a control and synchronization bus, and two bidirectional communication buses with receivers of speed and direction signals. In this case, each radar sensor contains a transceiver with a waveguide-slot antenna, two circulators, two mixers, two intermediate frequency amplifiers, and two units for automatically adjusting the generation zone. The reflected signal processing units contain two shapers, two multipliers, two stepper motors, two adders, and two tracking frequency-to-digital converters. The microwave oscillation generator of the transceiver is made on the basis of a Schottky or Mott diode. Angular acceleration and linear velocity sensors are installed on the transceiver body.

EFFECT: improved accuracy of measuring the speed of a railroad engine.
