FIELD: radiation technology.
SUBSTANCE: method for online monitoring of the position of a beam of charged particles in real time during radiation therapy operations, according to which a screen with a thickness equal to the path of particles with maximum energy is installed in the path of the beam of charged particles. A circular collimator hole is made in the screen to direct the beam to the irradiated object. Holes are made in the screen around the collimator, behind which charged particle detectors are installed. The detector signals are recorded, and the position of the charged particle beam is determined from the detector signals.
EFFECT: monitoring the position of a beam of charged particles in real time during radiation therapy.
