FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method and device for monitoring the shape of the deposited layer and controlling the process of direct laser growth of products from metal powders relate to the field of surfacing technologies and direct laser growth of products from various metal powders and are intended for use in mechanical engineering in the process of growing complex parts and products. The device is a system for automatically controlling the process of layer-by-layer surfacing, using laser radiation, of powder material supplied through a nozzle to the substrate, and implements continuous control, which consists of forming a 3D model of the deposited layer and comparing the model against the reference shape of the layer. If deviations in the shape and/or structure of the layer surface from the reference are detected, the function of adaptive control of the growth process is implemented, which consists of changing the laser power, and/or the speed of the head, and/or the consumption of powder material, in which the shape and the structure of the layer surface are brought into compliance with the standard. In addition to quickly adjusting the process parameters when detecting deviations in the shape of a layer to correct a defect, the control system remembers the location where the distortion in the shape of the layer occurs and corrects these distortions at the stage of growing the next layer of the product.
EFFECT: detection and correction of defects that arise during growth of the item, identification of incipient defects, and correction of the detected defects in the process of further growth of the item.
