FIELD: systems for metal working by means of laser beam. SUBSTANCE: system for controlling layer-by-layer surfacing includes laser, unit for feeding material into melt bath, unit for optical detection having opto-electric sensing member for generating electric signal depending upon height of layer of surfaced material; controller with feedback loop for controlling surfacing rate. System for controlling surfacing process by changing quantity of surfaced material includes laser having unit for focusing beam, unit for moving laser and substrate one relative to another, unit for supplying material into melt bath and feedback controller for controlling surfacing rate according to predetermined height of layer. System for making article includes computer base of construction data including description of article, laser, unit connected with laser and designed for feeding material into melt bath, unit for moving substrate relative to laser and unit for feeding material; working table for securing substrate; optical detection unit; feedback controller. The last is joined with motion unit and with laser in order to control height of layer of surfaced material according to description. Localized portion of substrate is heated by means of laser at making article. Melt bath is formed for feeding material into it. Height of surfaced layer of material is optically sensed and controlled according to description of invention at moving from one part of substrate to another.
