FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a microorganism having an increased ability to produce L-tryptophan compared to a wild-type microorganism and having an enhanced prephenate dehydratase activity compared to endogenous activity, where said enhanced activity is obtained by increasing the number of copies of the gene coding prephenate dehydratase, or replacing the promoter of said gene with a strong promoter. Also disclosed is a method of producing L-tryptophan, comprising culturing said microorganism, a composition for producing L-tryptophan containing said microorganism, using said microorganism to produce L-tryptophan.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain L-tryptophan with high output.
