SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating device with puff detection and a puff detection method. Aerosol-generating device has a receiving cavity for receiving at least a portion of the aerosol-generating article containing the aerosol-forming substrate. Device also includes an electric heater for heating the aerosol-forming substrate when the article is placed in the receiving cavity. Device also includes a puff detector containing a temperature sensor for detecting change in temperature of the air flow in the receiving cavity. Puff detector indicates that the user is taking a puff. Temperature sensor is located outside the receiving cavity at a predetermined distance from the test section on the inner surface of the receiving cavity and is configured to detect changes in the temperature of the cavity in the test section.
EFFECT: providing improved puff detection based on temperature measurements.
