SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for extracting microplastic from organs of the gastrointestinal tract of fish and is aimed at obtaining data on microplastic absorption by fish, which is part of monitoring microplastic flows in the environment. Method for extraction of microplastic from organs of gastrointestinal tract of fish, characterized by the fact that alkaline hydrolysis of organs of gastrointestinal tract of fish is performed, to which 100 ml of 10% potassium hydroxide solution is added and stirred in a laboratory shaker at 70–80 rpm, at 55 °C for 48 hours, for 24 hours at room temperature, the organic substance residues in the hydrolysate are oxidised, to which 5% by volume of 35% hydrogen peroxide is added, sodium chloride is added to the hydrolysate to obtain a saturated salt solution, the particles in which are separated by density in a separating funnel for 24 hours, microplastic-containing supernatant phase of saturated salt solution is collected, heated to 50 °C and 10% by volume of 96% of ethanol, microplastic is vacuum filtered on a glass fibre filter with pore diameter of 1 mcm and dried in a laminar box for 30 minutes.

EFFECT: method described above provides higher rate and accuracy of quantitative recording of microplastic extraction from organs of gastrointestinal tract of fish.
