METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF LATENT AND ACTIVE FORMS OF HHV-6 INFECTION IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/00 G01N33/49 C12Q1/686

Abstract RU 2817089 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to infectious diseases, and can be used for differential diagnosis of latent and active forms of HHV-6 infection in children. Clinical laboratory examination and a PCR study are carried out. Following is determined: maximum manifestation of fever during disease, presence of cough, absolute number of neutrophils and value of threshold cycles of amplification of DNA of HHV-6 in whole blood by PCR method. Obtained values are entered into the formulas for calculating the linear discriminant function: LDF1—latent HHV-6 infection: 42.7×X1−49.2×X2−6.2×X3+5.2×X4−865, LDF2—active HHV-6 infection: 45.1×X1−53×X2−6.7×X3+4.7×X4−940, where X1 is the maximum intensity of fever, measured in degrees Celsius; X2—presence of cough: no—0, yes—1; X3 is absolute neutrophil count, ×109/l; X4 are threshold cycles of HHV-6 DNA amplification. LDF1 and LDF2 values are compared. If LDF1>LDF2 shows a latent form of HHV-6 infection, LDF2>LDF1 shows an active form.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the accuracy and timeliness of diagnosis by conducting clinical and laboratory examination, PCR analysis, namely assessment of maximum intensity of fever during disease, presence of cough, absolute number of neutrophils and level of threshold cycles of amplification (cycle threshold, Ct) of DNA of HHV-6 in whole blood by method of qualitative PCR.
