FIELD: electric power industry; electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device for independent phase-by-phase compensation of reactive power includes a housing inside which three single-phase capacity batteries are installed, assembled according to the "star with grounded neutral" scheme and consisting of n number of capacitor stages. In addition, the device contains three current transformers, a three-channel reactive power controller, according to commands of which there is an independent phase-by-phase switching of current-limiting contactors to switch on or off the required number of capacitor stages until a given value of the power factor in the phases is achieved, three time delay sensors for operation of contactors of the corresponding phase with a certain time delay, allowing to adjust from short-term changes in reactive power consumption, three single-phase filtering chokes for protection of capacitors against overload and thermal destruction due to flow of currents of higher harmonics.
EFFECT: reduced losses of electric energy and increased throughput of power supply systems, as well as limitation of switching overvoltage of power transformers, reduction of current in neutral wire of four-wire lines.
