SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the development of skin barrier systems, particularly for infants or young children. Disclosed is a method for assessing the ability of a protective system to protect infant skin from external irritants, involving: a) topical application of said protective system on adult skin; b) local application of an external irritant on said protective system treated skin of an adult; c) monitoring the production of inflammatory molecules in said protective system-treated skin of an adult; d) using a computational model of skin inflammation of an adult for visualizing the effect of an external stimulus by optimizing inflammation parameters so that the adult skin inflammation profiles model corresponds to the experimental data; e) transfer of optimized inflammation parameters into a computational model of infant skin and f) determining the effect of the stimulus in the computational model of the infant's skin. Also disclosed is a system representing a cream or a moisturizer selected by evaluation in accordance with the method.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides selection of a skin barrier system acceptable for infants and young children.
