SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means and devices for displaying image data. Result is achieved by the fact that virtual colour gamuts are determined based on a plurality of primary display colours associated with the light source. At least one of the virtual colour gamuts is determined to approximate the set colour gamut. Intensity values associated with virtual colour data are formed based on received video data, and intensity values associated with virtual colour gamuts are used to generate excitation values for primary colours of the light source.
EFFECT: high quality of the output image of the display device.
