FIELD: experimental medicine; surgery; phlebology.

SUBSTANCE: surgical intervention is performed from one approach without using a tourniquet by means of an incision in a projection of a femoral vein up to 2 cm long. Femoral vein lumen is reduced by 1/2 by ligation on a metal protector in the form of an L-curved pin, diameter of which is selected depending on the initial diameter of the vein measured before the operation with the help of an ultrasonic apparatus. 0.09 mg/kg of 2% hexestrol and 0.1 ml/kg of 1% progesterone are administered intramuscularly for 8 days, which are started one day before vein ligation.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to create a simple to implement and less expensive model of varicose disease in dogs with appearance of dilatation and tortuosity of saphenous veins with venous reflux along medial saphenous vein for studying venous hemodynamics of lower extremities in conditions of phlebohypertension.
