FIELD: nuclear physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of nuclear radiation. Device for forming a beam of low-energy neutrons comprises sequentially located on one longitudinal axis of a proton accelerator, a proton channel, a target, a first moderator in the form of a truncated cone surrounded by a means for absorbing radiation to obtain a directed flux of low-energy neutrons, wherein after the first retarder in series on the same longitudinal axis with it, the device is equipped with a second retarder in the form of a disc and means for slowing down and reflecting neutrons, made in the form of a cylinder, consisting of two segments located close to each other, and also contains a reflector and a neutron channel.
EFFECT: possibility of changing the direction of the neutron beam directly during a radiation therapy session, as well as the possibility of obtaining a neutron beam without loss of its density.
