FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engines (ICE). Disclosed is a method of controlling a combustion system, a combustion system and an ICE comprising a combustion system. Combustion system comprises piston, fuel injector and cylinder. At the main fuel injection stage, the fuel injector sequentially injects fuel into the cylinder to actuate the piston. Method of controlling a combustion system includes controlling a fuel injector to perform at least one main fuel injection of a first stage during compression, wherein the main fuel injection of the first stage continues until the working stroke such that the pressure in the cylinder reaches the target pressure peak value; before pressure in the cylinder reaches the descending critical point, performing at least one main fuel injection of the second stage. Fuel injected during the main fuel injection of the second stage and the fuel injected during the main fuel injection of the first stage are superimposed, so that the pressure in the cylinder is maintained equal to the target pressure peak value for a predetermined time.
EFFECT: invention allows improving mixing of fuel and air, increasing combustion efficiency in ICE and reducing ICE fuel consumption.
