FIELD: engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diesel engines and, in particular, to a method of controlling a combustion system, a combustion system and a diesel engine. Result is achieved by determining duration and first injection pressure for first main fuel injection, it is ensured that the pressure in the cylinder can reach the upper limit pressure threshold value in the cylinder; and during the second main fuel injection, in the time period, when the pressure in the cylinder falls from the upper limit pressure threshold value in the cylinder to the predetermined pressure in the cylinder, rate of change of curve slope for curve of change of pressure in cylinder at each moment of time is in specified range of rates of change of slope, and crankshaft rotation angle is not less than the first predetermined rotation angle.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of engine operation due to improvement of such parameters as: rate of fuel and gas mixing in the cylinder, rate of combustion at medium and late stages of combustion, as well as coefficient of air use in the cylinder.
