FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of composite materials with a metal matrix, specifically to methods of producing a tape from a metal composite material, and can be used to produce special semi-finished products in the form of bundles or tapes consisting of titanium reinforced with continuous high-strength silicon carbide fibers. Method comprises forming at least one layer of a plurality of parallel long reinforcing fibers arranged with possibility of contact between them, at temperature of 170–200°C, a halogen compound in the form of titanium tetraiodide is formed in the chamber, reinforcing fibers are continuously fed into the chamber and heated to temperature of 1,100–1,400°C, and then performing transfer and thermal decomposition of titanium tetraiodide on the surface of reinforcing fibers to form a solid phase deposited on the surface of the fibers in the form of titanium metal and a gaseous phase in the form of iodine vapor, wherein the titanium tetraiodide gas phase formation process is carried out in the form of a continuous closed cycle, and the thickness of the deposited metal phase during the production of the tape is controlled by the formation of titanium diiodide when the temperature in the chamber is increased to 400–550°C.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing a tape from a metal composite material.
