FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used in laboratory studies for determination of levofloxacin in biological fluids and food products. Summary of invention, characterizing method of determining levofloxacin in biological fluids and food products, is based on the ability of levofloxacin to be oxidised in aqueous solutions on a glass-carbon electrode and consists in transferring levofloxacin into an aqueous solution and direct voltammetric determination in buffer solution of potassium hydrophthalate (0.05 M KHC8H4O4, pH 4.01) with recording of anode peaks using differential pulse voltammetry (potential range from 0.6 to 1.5 V, amplitude 0.075 V, modulation time 0.075 s, scanning rate 30 mV/s). Concentration of levofloxacin is determined from the height of the oxidation peak in the range of potentials from 1.00 to 1.01 V using a calibration curve.

EFFECT: invention enables to create a sensitive and rapid method for quantitative determination of levofloxacin by differential pulse voltammetry in real samples.
