FIELD: electronic devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic devices, and more specifically to devices using field emission of electrons. Carbon field-emission cathode based on thermally expanded graphite is made of material with the following composition: thermally expanded graphite – 40–85 wt.%, diamond particles with size of 0.1–5 mcm, thermally treated in methane or natural gas at temperature of 730–820 °C for 1-5 hours, – 15–60 wt.%. Production of carbon field-emission cathode is achieved by the fact that thermally expanded graphite powder is mixed with alcohol suspension obtained by ultrasonic dispersion of diamond powder with particle size of 0.1–5 mcm, preliminary heat treated in methane or natural gas medium at temperature 730–820 °C for 1–5 hours, then performing ultrasonic dispersion of mixture, and after evaporation of alcohol from the obtained mixture, the mixture is moulded at pressure of 40–200 MPa.
EFFECT: providing high emission currents and their increased stability in time.
