FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a wear-resistant coating on a cutting tool. Surface of the tool is cleaned and the lower and upper layers of the above coating are applied in a vacuum-plasma manner on a unit equipped with a magnetron and an electric-arc evaporator. Lower coating layer is applied by electric arc evaporation of TiZr cathode. Upper layer of the coating is formed by magnetron sputtering of a high-entropy target cathode obtained by electric spark sintering from technically pure powders of aluminium, niobium, titanium, vanadium and zirconium. Application of the lower and upper layers is carried out with simultaneous plasma assistance carried out by means of a plasma source, which enables to obtain plasma using a non-self-sustained high-current diffusion discharge.
EFFECT: obtaining surface layers with improved operational and physical and mechanical properties.
