FIELD: decoding means.

SUBSTANCE: receiving a bit stream including an encoded image, wherein the encoded image includes a block of encoded pixels and signaling information including a first division index used to determine an indirect non-rectangular division starting point, and a second separation index used to determine the end point of the indirect non-rectangular separation. Determining, using the first division index, the initial point of the indirect non-rectangular division in the block, wherein the starting point is located on the first side of the block with a first offset distance from the first corner of the block. Determining, using the second division index, the end point of the indirect non-rectangular division in the block, wherein the end point is located on the second side of the block with a second offset distance from the second corner of the block. First pixel prediction values are generated in the first region on the first side relative to the indirect non-rectangular partitioning. Second pixel prediction values are generated in the second region on the second side relative to the indirect non-rectangular partitioning. Block is decoded using pixel prediction values.

EFFECT: high efficiency of image compression.
