FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to molecular typing of a medieval biovar of the main subspecies Yersinia pestis from foci of the North and the North-West Caspian regions. Invention provides identification of genovariants of Y. pestis strains of mediaeval biovar of phylogenetic branches 2.MED1 and 2.MED4, common in natural foci of the North and the North-West Caspian, by marker polymorphic nucleotides SNPs. Obtaining gene sequences with marker polymorphic nucleotides creates a basis for creating a canonical SNP-profile of strains for molecular-genetic detailing of foci in which a highly virulent medieval biovar of the main subspecies Y. pestis circulates.

EFFECT: proposed method will increase the effectiveness of epidemiological tracing of the origin of the genovariant of the medieval biovar during molecular-epidemiological monitoring, and will also be used to create databases of genotypes of Yersinia pestis strains of natural foci of the Caspian region and adjacent plague foci.
