FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction of engineering structures in permafrost zone, namely to construction of embankments for railways. Embankment for railway on permafrost contains in cross section the main body of soil in form of embankment for single-track railway, including main site and slopes located along its edges and directed downwards and to outer sides, and an additional array providing a combination with the main array of the location of the second track. Additional massif in cross section has the shape of a rectangle with height not less than "h", the upper base of which with length "B" coincides with the main platform of the embankment, and the lower base of length "B" is located in the body of the embankment. Vertical axis of the rectangle coincides with the vertical axis of the embankment, wherein the surface of the rectangle partially replaces the surface of the main soil massif, and partly protrudes beyond the embankment slopes with the value of the protrusion at the level of the upper base of the value "l", and in the level of the lower base the value of the protrusion is equal to zero. Lateral surfaces of the rectangle are limited by rigid side walls, tightened to each other with ties, wherein where B is the required width of the main platform to provide a double-track railway, m; d is the same for a single-track railway, m; (l:i) is the slope of the embankment, d/q.

EFFECT: reduction of the volume of excavation works for widening of the road bed, elimination of the need to elongate the culverts and prevention of deterioration of the permafrost-ground state during reconstruction of the railway from a single-track to a double-track.
