METHOD FOR ELIMINATION OF NASAL DORSUM ASYMMETRY AND REINFORCEMENT OF INTERNAL NASAL VALVE Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/24 A61F2/18

Abstract RU 2832612 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to plastic, maxillofacial and ENT surgery. Subperichondrium and subperiosteal detachment of nasal septum mucosa is performed on both sides. Mucocutaneous flap is detached from the lower and upper lateral cartilages of the nose. Approach to the osteocartilaginous portion of the lateral slopes and dorsum of the nose is formed. Visible irregularities of the back are eliminated with the help of a scalpel and a piezoelectric device. Upper lateral cartilage is separated from the nasal septum on the problem side by means of a raspatory. Further, a fragment of a quadrangular cartilage is sampled. Cartilage graft 3 mm high, 25 mm long, 2 mm wide at one end with uniform narrowing to the opposite end is formed from the sampled fragment on the cartilage crushing site using a scalpel with a blade No. 11. Then the graft is placed in the bed between the upper edge of the triangular cartilage and the cartilage of the nasal septum, fixed with U-sutures with a non-absorbable monofilament synthetic suture 5/0. Further, an end portion of the nose is formed according to anatomical landmarks. Mucocutaneous flap is put in place, the obtained aesthetic result is visually assessed and sutured. Air-conducting intranasal splints are inserted into the nasal cavity and fixed with one interrupted suture, which are removed on an outpatient basis on the third day. Adhesive bandage of strips is applied on the nose, an external thermoplastic nasal splint is fixed, which is removed on an outpatient basis on 14th day.

EFFECT: method enables correcting aesthetic nose defects and preventing internal nasal valve obstruction while eliminating nasal dorsum asymmetry.
