FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to military surgery, experimental medicine and radiobiology. An hour after the short-term gamma-irradiation in dose of 6 Gy, the animal is subjected to a mechanical injury of an extremity, excising a skin section with scalpel 10.0×5.0 cm along the outer surface of the extremity from the middle one-third of the thigh to the middle one-third of the shin. For one hour, Mikulicz clamps are applied on thigh and shin muscles, and primary surgical treatment of extensive soft tissue injury of extremity is performed. After treating the injury, an external fixation apparatus is applied and the animal is observed for 30 days.
EFFECT: method enables to study general biological and pathophysiological processes developing in radiation pathology in combination with extensive damage to soft tissues of an extremity, which in turn allows evaluating the effectiveness of new agents and methods of treating combined radiation-mechanical injury.
