FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating article. Aerosol-generating article (10) for producing an inhaled aerosol when heated comprises: rod (12) of an aerosol-generating substrate having length of 8 to 16 mm, wherein the aerosol-generating substrate comprises shredded tobacco material having an average density of 150 to 500 mg/cm3; downstream section (14) provided downstream of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), downstream section (14) comprising at least one hollow tubular element (20) adjacent to the downstream end of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12); and upstream element (42) provided upstream of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), and adjacent to the upstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), wherein the upstream end of upstream element (42) defines the upstream end of article (10), generating aerosol. Ventilation zone (30) is provided in place along hollow tubular element (20), wherein distance between ventilation zone (30) and upstream end of element (42) varies from 26 to 33 mm.
EFFECT: reduced effect of potential variations in the resistance to draw (RTD) of the substrate rod on the overall RTD of the upstream section.
