SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating article. Aerosol-generating article (10) for producing an inhaled aerosol when heated comprises substrate rod (12), generating an aerosol having length of 8 to 16 mm and a draw resistance (RTD) of 4 to 10 mm w.g., downstream section (14), provided downstream of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), wherein downstream section (14) comprises at least one hollow tubular segment (20), and upstream element (42) provided upstream of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), and adjacent to the upstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), wherein element (42) arranged ahead of flow has length of 2 mm to 8 mm and is made up of hollow tubular segment defining longitudinal cavity to allow unobstructed flow.

EFFECT: providing an article with an optimized balance of RTD inside it.
