FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to medicine, namely to pulmonology. It can be used to assess the functional state of respiratory volumes and gas exchange of lungs with determination of their reserve capabilities. That is ensured by spirometry and body plethysmography. Diffuse capacity of lungs is determined by carbon monoxide method, vital capacity of lungs, forced vital capacity, total lung capacity, residual and alveolar volumes of lungs. Thereafter, the xenon-oxygen mixture is inhaled in concentration of 30% xenon and 70% oxygen for 3 minutes and the analysed values are re-recorded 1 hour after inhalation. Further, the ratio of the residual volume to the value of the diffuse capacity of the lungs, calculated as the difference of the two measurements in % to the due value, is calculated. Derived value is used to assess the ventilation-diffusion reserve of the lungs as low, medium, high and very high.
EFFECT: method is simple, accessible, provides high diagnostic accuracy.
