FIELD: inorganic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing crystalline double orthophosphates of cerium (IV), which can be used for various optical applications, including as components of sunscreen agents. the method of producing double orthophosphate of cerium (IV) involves preparation of a cerium phosphate solution by dissolving 0.1 g of nanocrystalline cerium dioxide in 5 ml of 85 wt.% of orthophosphoric acid at 80 °C. To the obtained cooled cerium phosphate solution, 35 ml of an aqueous solution of a precipitant is added. Further, the reaction mixture is hydrothermally treated in 100 ml Teflon autoclave at 180 °C for 24 hours, the precipitate is repeatedly washed with distilled water and dried at 60 °C. Aqueous solution of the precipitation agent used is an aqueous solution of calcium nitrate with concentration of 0.1 to 0.5 M.
EFFECT: obtaining double cerium (IV) orthophosphate containing calcium as a second cation, suitable for use in sunscreen cosmetics as a UV-absorbing component.
