FIELD: crushing or grinding of various materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for grinding mineral raw materials and semi-finished products, mainly those having a layered structure, such as graphite, molybdenum disulphide, boron nitride, while preserving their layered structure, in the chemical and other industries. Proposed rod mill comprises drum with drum drive, initial material loading and ground product discharge assemblies, grinding assembly arranged inside said drum and made up of rods interconnected by flexible crosswise links. Ends of rods are fixed in bushes of parallel endless chains connected by means of sprockets with common drive and tension shafts. Chains have upper and lower branches located, mainly, horizontally in central zone of drum, under which support plates are fixed in parallel to branches, wherein deflecting elements are arranged under bottom plate directed toward unloading assembly. Lifting buckets are secured at drum inner surface.
EFFECT: rod mill provides increased grinding efficiency by increasing the intensity of shear effects and the volume of the material layer under conditions of intense shear deformation.
