FIELD: petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: hydrorefining of diesel fuel is carried out in the presence of three catalyst beds. The first bed as the stock is delivered, includes an oxide alumocobalt molybdenum catalyst comprising sulfur; the second bed includes an oxide an alumocobalt molybdenum catalyst, the third bed includes an oxide alumocobalt molybdenum catalyst having a mean pore radius of and at the weight ratio of the first to second and to third beds of (0.3-0.1): (0.2-0.3):(0.5-0.6),respectively. The process is carried out with presulfuring of the catalyst beds in a hydrocarbon-containing gas at 350-400 C. EFFECT: improved properties of the diesel fuel. 1 tbl
