FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: determined are moment of turning of engine crank-shaft through preset optimum angle (M1) and moment of building of maximum pressure in combustion chamber at combustion of working mixture (M2). Then at the following operating cycle ignition moment is displaced to advance if M1 takes place earlier than M2 or to delay, if M2 takes place earlier than M1 to make M1 and M2 coincide. Moment of building of maximum pressure in combustion chamber are found at each operating stroke of engine, with preset optimum angle of crankshaft turning being counted relative to top dead center; displacement of moment of ignition of mixture at following cycles of engine operation through preset optimum angle and displacement of moment of building of maximum pressure in combustion chamber are provided in ignition system with electronic ignition timing or in fuel injection system with electrically operated nozzles. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of ignition or injection timing.
