FIELD: railway transport; permanent way. SUBSTANCE: prior to laying new rail lengths, rail joints are disassembled and lengths to be replaced are released from base after which ends of rail lengths to be replaced are lifted. After lifting of replaceable rail lengths similar type rail seats are rigidly secured to each end of rail lengths and car with roller units is driven under rail seat feet, and rail seats are lowered onto roller units. Ends of lengths to be laid are aligned with ends of previously laid rails by longitudinal displacement of rail lengths found on rail-carrying train. Then ends of rails are rigidly connected by fishplates. Rail lengths are laid on base, simultaneously unload n from rail carrying train and displacing rail lengths to be replaced to middle of gauge and connecting rail lengths to base. EFFECT: reduced labour input in unloading and laying of rail lengths.
