FIELD: inspection of cylindrical structures. SUBSTANCE: device has first carriage designed for displacement inside cylindrical structure under inspection, along its axis, that mounts safety chamber accommodating radioactive source, carriage drive, remote control unit coupled with carriage drive, and support meant for fixation on butt end of cylindrical structure. Support mounts slewing base with turn drive. Slewing base axis of revolution is aligned with cylindrical structure axis. Circular support is mounted concentrically with slewing base axis of revolution for contacting the baseplate; it is meant to accommodate cylindrical structure under inspection. Engageable with circular support through first aligning members is circular member coupled via longitudinal links with slewing base. Device is provided with adjustable support designed for its housing inside cylindrical structure and mounted for displacement in step with first carriage and second carriage that carries radiation detector. Adjustable support is provided with second aligning members engageable with inner surface of cylindrical structure. Each carriage is installed for moving over at least one guide placed in parallel with longitudinal axis of cylindrical structure and having its upper end secured on slewing base. First-carriage guide is mounted for turning on adjustable support. Second-carriage guide has its lower end secured on circular member. Safety chamber is designed to shape collimated radial beam for orienting the radiation detector.
