FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: according to invention, compensating layer is placed between outer housing and cellular member. This layer consists of swelling mat and isolating mat the latter being provided with edging formed by bending whose thickness in zone of at least one end face side of cellular member exceeds thickness of the rest inner part of isolating mat. Swelling mat is located close to side of inner part of isolating mat pointed to cellular member to provided covering of edge surfaces of swelling mat liable to wear by thicker section of isolating mat edging. Compensating layer has to be preferably made in form of combination material which can be rolled up. Proposed invention is simple and effective in design and it can be used in exhaust gas catalyst converters of vehicles which are arranged close to engine and employ thin-walled ceramic cellular members. EFFECT: provision of reliable shielding of swelling mat from intensive exhaust gas flow pulses even at very high ambient temperature. 16 cl, 2 dwg
