FIELD: fire-fighting facilities. SUBSTANCE: method involves moving fire-fighting unit along forest fire front to lay supporting strip and simultaneously applying oil fuel to separate portions of supporting strip, along internal edge thereof; moving fire-fighting unit to safe distance from fire front and igniting oil fuel on first strip portion. During operation of fire-fighting unit, fire initiated by igniting of oil fuel can not reach fire-fighting unit due to discontinuities in strip. Method further involves applying by fire-fighting unit of oil fuel in continuous line to tail end of strip; moving fire-fighting unit at traveling speed to safe distance from fire front upon completion of work; igniting oil fuel on continuous line to provide for rapid spreading of fire over the entire length of continuous line, with following advancement of fire toward forest fire front.
