FIELD: forest fire fighting equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus is made in the form of cord made from homogeneous hydrophilic inflammable material, for example textile. Cord has fire- conductive part 1 and weight concentrators formed as tightly bound nodes 2 and arranged in equally spaced relation along cord. Diameter of fire-conductive part of cord is less than diameter of part having weight concentrators. Cord is impregnated with combustible composition comprising gasoline and motor oil mixture and rubber additive. Cord is laid along marked annealing line or along supporting strip and ignited. Upper layer of soil cover is initially ignited. Fire-conductive part 1 of cord is rapidly burnt due to smaller diameter thereof, and weight concentrators 2 fall earlier than in prior art apparatus to penetrate deep into combustible material layer and igniting it from below. EFFECT: increased efficiency in fire fighting by spreading of flame from the bottom to the top and enhanced reliability in operation. 1 dwg
