FIELD: electronics, namely processes for making energy absorber in microwave devices, possibly in apparatuses operating at complete or partial absorption of microwave energy. SUBSTANCE: invention allows to make absorbers of microwave energy with any desired configuration for selective absorption of microwave energy in predetermined zone of spectrum, for absorption of parasitic or induced microwave fields and for changing Q-factor of resonators. Method comprises steps of forming plate of material absorbing microwave energy; grinding surfaces of said plate and forming of it absorber with necessary configuration by means of contour laser cutting of plate; performing cutting with use of impulses of laser irradiation in nanosecond range with energy less than 2 mJ/impulse and with power density in cutting zone exceeding 5 x 107 W/sq.cm. EFFECT: possibility for making desired configuration absorbers of microwave energy in necessary zone of spectrum.
