FIELD: starting and stabilizing operation of pulverized-coal burners of boiler units. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of main flame by organizing interaction between plasma filament and pulverized coal flow in air environment. In order to form pilot flame smaller portion of pulverized coal flow used for ignition during air supply in amount sufficient for igniting pulverized coal particles is brought in interaction with plasma filament; then pilot flame is used for thermochemical treatment of remaining portion of pulverized coal flow used for ignition wherefrom dust-air flow is organized and brought in contact with pilot flame; in the process air is used in amount insufficient for igniting coal dust particles and their temperature is brought as a rule to 600-700 C; then main flame is formed; to this end air is introduced in thermochemically treated pulverized fuel flow, its amount being sufficient for kindling pulverized coal particles of this flow.
