FIELD: production of mineral fibers, basalt fiber included, utilized in mechanical engineering, textile, chemical, aerospace and construction industries. SUBSTANCE: invention solves problem of development of high- efficiency and energy-saving process of production of mineral fiber with high operational parameters and of device for its realization. Process of production of mineral fiber consists in continuous feed of burden into stabilized volume of plasma reactor with plasma temperature up to 4000 C with subsequent flow of formed melt over water- cooled bottom into accumulator space ( variant 1 ) or in dosed supply of burden into melting space of plasma reactor with ignition of arc between carbon electrodes with the aid of insertion of graphite track ( variant 2 ). Then melt goes to aerodynamic system of Laval nozzles where its fanning, primary separation into fiber and solid metal oxides and comminution of solid oxides occur. After this continuous round cleaning of obtained mineral fiber from comminuted metal oxides is carried out in chamber of fiber precipitation. As result fiber up to 25.0 cm in length and 4-7 mcm in diameter with content of solid metal oxides under 4 per cent by mass is won. Gear for production of mineral fiber includes aerodynamic system comprising circular rotating disc with ragging anchored on tray over which perimeter Laval nozzles are placed.
