FIELD: generation of plasmoids whose properties are close to those of fireballs separately existing in free space. SUBSTANCE: device has open-type microwave resonator provided with external sections of below-cutoff round waveguide; plasma chamber made in the form of insulating tube passed through microwave resonator and through below-cutoff waveguide sections; waveguide for feeding microwave energy; high-frequency magnetic-pulse inductor disposed inside microwave resonator around insulating tube passed through this resonator at least on part of its length. As an alternative, device can have microwave cavity resonator (of ball, cylindrical, or toroidal shape) with waveguide for feeding microwave energy and high-frequency magnetic-pulse inductor disposed outside of microwave cavity resonator around output section of insulating tube.
