FIELD: processes and equipment for making bands and sheets of steel.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of casting billet in the form of thin slab of carbon or high quality steel in casting machine; rolling cast billet. In order to provide up-rated operation of equipment, at first carbon steel castings are produced and together with first castings at least second castings of high-quality steel are made in second manufacturing path if first thin slabs are cast of carbon steel or second castings are made of carbon steel if first thin slabs are cast of high-quality steel. Then cast billets are rolled according to program of combined rolling process. During rolling process, surface of rolls are cleaned for removing scale and roughness of roll surface is lowered. Such procedures are alternatively performed depending upon rolled material. Plant for performing the method includes casting machine, furnace, rolling mill, unit for guiding castings of different steels into rolling line, grinding apparatus and apparatus for washing out scale.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of production process at the same high quality of products.
