FIELD: measuring technique.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises illuminating device and TV camera mounted above the material and separated from it by a transparent member, channel for transmitting signal, digital computing unit, and device for displaying the results of the measurements. The TV camera is mounted for permitting viewing the line of intersection of the material surface with the primary measuring scale applied to the vertical wall of the tank.
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and reliability.
